    Combating Loneliness a National Epidemic!

    According to a recent poll on healthy aging, 1 in 3 older adults express a feeling of loneliness. As a care manager I know that social isolation, a lack of access to socialization opportunities, and loneliness is a major and growing problem in older adults. Part of this is due to evolving technology which has impacted how we communicate, with decreased direct personal interaction. There is often a disconnect between the younger generation and some older adults in this regar

    Loneliness and Isolation

    We are social beings, so living alone and not having access to socialization will take a toll on most people at any age. However, due to a variety of factors loneliness and social withdrawal are a significant issue for many seniors today. Many seniors with cognitive impairments become afraid to interact, embarrassed about their behavior, or self conscious so they withdrawal from others. Sometimes other seniors have medical issues that lead to fatigue or make it difficult t
