The Benefits of Personal Care Homes

Personal Care Homes provide seniors with a terrific option for enjoying a smaller, homelike environment with the added benefit of access to care and professional assistance when needed. More seniors want to remiain in their homes, but are unable to due to a lack of socialization, safety concerns, home structure, and care needs. The services offered in personal care homes are similar to those in a traditional assisted living facility - housekeeping, transportation, assistance with activities of daily living, medication management, recreation and activities, security and 24/7 access to care.

So what are the benefits of a personal care home:

  • Smaller, more homelike setting with a less clinical feel

  • Less residents (usually a maximum of 8)

  • More cost effective than a traditional assisted living or other senior care communities.

  • Higher staff to resident ratios, which leads to responsiveness and personalized care.

  • Fast admission process

  • Lack of need for furnishings which can be costly and take time.

  • More real life normalcy - as residents can be involved in daily home activities such as meal prep, shopping, etc.

  • Support and companionship for those who were living alone or who would like to remain at home, but require more support and care.

  • A great short term or respite solution especially for someone post surgery or hospitalization who requires a little more assistance after a rehab or hospital stay.

A personal care home is a terrific option to explore if seeking a more private, home like setting!
