This is a free event for those caring for others! The number of caregivers that predecease those being cared for is astronomical! We need to work together to break this cycle! AARP Smart Driver Class
The Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna is sponsoring a refresher course geared for drivers age 50 and older.
Dates: April 5 & 8, 2019 (two-day course, Friday/Monday)
Time: 9 am - 1 pm (participants get three 10-minute breaks)
Place: Oakton United Methodist Church

Cost: Make check payable to "AARP" and bring to first day of class.
$15 for AARP members (bring membership card)
$20 for non-members

Hunter Mill Road Corridor History Tour

Hunter Mill Road Corridor History Tour with Jim Lewis
250 Years of Forgotten Roads, Characters, Conflicts and Civil War Activity
This 4-hour narrated excursion comes with supporting stories and period photos. It begins and ends at the Freeman House on Church Street in Vienna.
The tour will follow the original road from Vienna to Oakton (aka Flint Hill) and stop at the Flint Hill Cemetery - Oakton Church of the Brethren, and the Mosby Oak on Hunter Mill Rd. Weather permitting, we will walk amongst Confederate earthworks, i.e., trenches, rifle pits, fox holes, artillery positions, etc. Other highlights may include: Cartersville Baptist Church, 1870 farmhouse and c.1930s Mennonite barn, 1876 schoolhouse, pre-1860s house, 1930s Fanny’s General Store, Brown’s Chapel Cemetery, old traces of Hunter Mill Rd., Fields of Fire, Roer's Zoofari (formerly Reston Zoo), and the original Reston Farmer’s Market.

Exercise class for older adults focusing on low impact aerobics, balance, coordination and stretching.
