Flu Shot Season!
It is that time again...flu shot season! Flu.gov estimates that flu shots prevented five million people from getting the flu last season! The flu vaccine is important for everyone especially older adults and those with chronic and high risk conditions. The flu can be especially serious for those who are 65 years of age and older. It is even more important this year due to Covid-19 which is still presenting a significant challenge in many areas across the US and the world. Getting a simple flu shot is one of the best ways to protect yourself from getting and spreading the flu virus. It is prudent to get a flu shot every year as it is another preventative measure to help you stay healthy. In addition, if you do get sick with the flu, your symptoms are more likely to be much less serious or will not last as long.
The flu vaccine is covered for people with Medicare from providers that accept Medicare or specific Medicare plans. There are safe mechanisms to obtain the flu vaccine throughout your community via a primary care physicians office, local pharmacy, within a care community, or other local care provider.
All vendors offering flu shots are required to follow CDC guidance to ensure that individuals have a safe place to obtain a vaccine. Individuals will be required to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing guidelines in vaccination areas.
